Honey Badger gi by Tatami Fightwear
I recently purchased the Honey Badger themed gi made by Tatami Fightwear. I got a size A2, I'm 5'8", 170 lbs and at first the sleeves were a bit long but after being washed in cold the gi is a perfect fit in every area. It is by far the lightest bjj gi I have ever worn and I was a bit concerned about how durable it will be but I think it should be fine after rolling in it and training judo throws where it really been put to the test four times. This gi is so lightweight it almost feels like a very heavy Karate style gi with a thicker collar which is still pretty thin making you a little more prone to gi chokes but every gi has advantages and disadvantages depending on the cut and this one's lightweight allows you to stay cool and to move super fast while rolling. The Honey Badger gi seems to be built for competition.
The pants are very thin with six purple loops and a thick stretchy orange cord drawstring which is nice, I hate old school pants. There is a patch on one leg of a honey badger on the pants, one on each sleeve, the patch down the front lapel ond on the bottom back edge of the gi says Tatami and has two comic book style honey badgers on either end of the patch and in the middle of the gi's back there is a patch of a honey badger with two cobras that it is eating coming out of its mouth. It is a tribute to the youtube video parody of the honey badger. The gi like the animal itself is like the video says, pretty badass. There is purple trim on both bottom sides of the gi top and is taped on the seems saying honey badger. People who have seen the video have loved the gi and that they made one to honor such a ferocious animal. It came with a warning not to put it in a closet with your othere gis as it might eat them and just as a side note, a friend of mine also has this gi and the tape near the ankle cut him while rolling and he swears the honey badger gi bit him.
If you get this gi, rotate it because durability could be a concern, I haven't rolled in it enough to see if this one will be durable for the long hall but it is definetly an awesome comp gi which is what I plan on using it for. I have several other heavier gis and I'm glad this one is different. Get it, it's pretty badass and it doesn't give a s@#$.
