um, it looks really good btw. at least from the youtube clip. I've never seen someone hold a pad for someone to jam upkicks. That in itself was pretty cool.
$88 I saw it for with discount. I'm awful tempted since I've got some minor wrists surgeries in May and will be watching a ton of video.

Okay here is a speed version.....There are 4 dvd's to Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos MMA training Drills: Muay Thai Basics, Striking Drills, Clinch Drills, and Ground Game.

The first dvd Muay Thai Basics, is well basic. If you have come from a striking club you would have seen these moves before and probably had better instruction. There really isn't anything new here. Cyborg explanations on any of the techniques is superficial (keep your chin tucked, kick with shin not foot etc) and brief. Instead he demonstrates the technique 10 times. So here is a list of techniques he demonstates: Jab, cross, hook, upper cut, low round house, switch low round house, knee, switch knee, Upper cut elbow, horizontal elbow, down elbow, parry, high kick counter (parry and pass), clavicle clinch, double elbows push down.

He shows these techniques in standard teaching form and count. For example jab, jab cross, Jab cross hook, Jab cross hook uppercut, jab cross hook upper cut would be a series he would demonstrate. The only foot work demonstated is switch kick and switch knee. No turns, quarter turns or 1/2 steps, circling are demonstrated. Indeed this DVD 1 of 4 is very basic.

Next DVD of the set is Striking and will be in another post...

Speed review part II.

In the Striking DVD, (which appears to be a small seminar), Cyborg continues with Muay Thai Basics and has a class do combinations that he demonstrated in the first DVD. He has the class moving, but only in a linear way with one combination series. He added 1 new technique, the spinning elbow but only in the basic form.

The Clinch Drills DVD, I believe has been miss named. The majority of the drills (around 60%) included are knee and kicks while using the clinch or in the case of kicks at striking distance. There was no drills around getting into the clinch, setting up the clinch or even how to maintain the clinch. There were two drills on how to escape the clinch. In the review section, there was a review of clinch to heel hook (which is covered on the next DVD) and a counter to the standing Guillotine (also covered in the next DVD).

The final DVD is ground drills that concentrates on striking drills while in guard or after passing the guard. The youtube promo used a couple of drills from this DVD. The main drills are bicep control, stand then strike, pass then elbow, up kick low Stomach, up kick high face. By in large, not much new in terms of drills.

In short, this DVD set is very basic. If you have MMA, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, or Sambo experience you will be familiar with many of these drills. And probably don't need this DVD set. In fact, I felt cheated by the youtube promo, which show seems to suggest there was much more than was actually delivered or maybe I'm spoiled because Jason does such a great job.

Thank u so much... u saved me about 88 bucks.... the reason I was skeptikal was because I ordered a good while back a bunch of Scott Sullivan muay thai videos... and Im not saying they didnt have good stuff but it wasnt somthin you cant come across in your local gym... im other words the promos and videos made it look like you were getting to see what kinda drills real muaythai fightes do advance wise. I wanted to learn good technique. Instead of going in depth it was just a bunch of moves and then he would tell evome to do them.. To make a long story short the videos werent what they were kade out to be. I was kinda excited when I saw it was cyborg because I thought it would show drills for how mma fighters on yhat level train. Basicly I am lookin for drills that you would use if you were in a gym like jacksons or blackhouse ect... you can learn good technique all over the country... and find good jitsu schools to train and roll in... But when it comes to fighting its the drills and the training reimen that set the elite mma schools apart from the others. Thats why I love watching the UFC countdowns... because you get to see some of how they train... I wont rest until I find a dvd collection of drills and positions just for MMA. In other words If I show up an hour early before class and drill all those positions and movements... shouldnt that set me apart from the rest?

The MMS sets that I've come away with the best stuff are Mario Sperry's, Greg Nelson's seminar dvds, and BJ Penn's book.

The Rua brothers set is also pretty good.
