If you search cesar gracie on youtube theres a few vids of him teaching. I like his teaching style a lot, seems like an old school GJJ tape!

I've seen a couple of the old school GJJ tapes, they seem very outdated and a little too basic for my liking. Even the advanced stuff looked a little bit basic to me.

That's the early 90's series i'm talking about. Oh, how times have changed.

I like how cesar has very high standards for his blackbelts, i think only dave terrell and nick diaz are blacks under cesar? both are badass on the ground too. I LOVED cesars instructionals, because they were basic and easy to understand. They had a bunch of them on youtube that i re-watched, but last time i checked they took them off. this is a wonderful set for beginners

I laughed when they talked about his great victory over a boxer; who tapped out when he got mounted. Yeah, i'll tell you, that was a GRIPPING part of the instructional. Couldn't take my eyes off it!

I have seen this, it is very very old, but don't confuse that with being bad. Fancy stuff comes and goes but the core stuff is the core stuff for a reason! Its very direct and to the point. I wouldn't say that any of it is super advanced stuff , but I think its really good.

As the thread has been bumped, excuse for me to post up my old review:

Short Review: Cesar Gracie has a wonderfully detailed style, taking the time to introduce important concepts and fine details as he breaks down each technique, showing it multiple times and from several angles. This series focuses heavily on offence, with some expertly constructed sequences of attacks. Even more than Pedro Carvalho, Cesar manages to flow through combinations in a sensible and highly functional fashion.

This series is an ideal follow-up to Roy Dean's Blue Belt Requirements. Once you've mastered the fundamental escapes on Dean's DVD, Cesar's thorough and methodical approach to attacks will help round out your game. Once again, as with all the older sets I've been reviewing, age means this is cheap.

Full review here.
